Homemade peanut butter is something I make occasionally and why not because it’s so incredibly simple. All you need is a food processor or a blender. If you use a blender, make sure it has sufficient power to grind the peanuts. Of course, you can vary with the ingredients, for example, replace a portion of the peanuts with cashew nuts or other unsalted nuts. Add some sugar if you prefer a sweeter peanut butter. I keep it in the fridge and make sure I use it all within two to three weeks. To be honest, I did not test how much longer it can be kept. If you are not sure if it’s still good, throw it away. When you get the peanut butter out of the fridge, and the oil is floating on top just stir it back in.
Homemade peanut butter,
- 500 grams of unsalted peanuts with skin
- arachis oil
Pour a little bit of oil into the blender and add about a quarter of the peanuts and a pinch of salt. Turn on the machine. The peanuts will change into a thick substance. Keep adding a quarter of the peanuts every 2 minutes. Slowly it will become peanut butter. It’s nice to see that happen. If you think it’s too thick, add some more oil and repeat until it has the desired thickness.
Enjoy your homemade peanut butter.
